Five Indian nationals have been arrested in Pattaya after Thai immigration authorities raided a condominium believed to be used as a base for illegal online gambling administration. The operation, carried out in Nong Prue on Soi Thep Prasit 17, followed intelligence suggesting that foreign workers were operating offshore digital services from within the residence.
When officers entered the unit, they discovered five men aged between 24 and 39 working on laptop computers. The room was set up like a small office, with multiple electronic devices actively in use. Investigators seized three laptops, 22 mobile phones, a tablet, several credit cards, and notebooks containing detailed financial records.
Police later confirmed that the notebooks contained transaction entries totaling several million Indian rupees, estimated at THB 2 million, or approximately US$54,000. Authorities suspect the money is linked to offshore online gambling platforms targeting customers outside Thailand.
Initially, the detainees denied involvement in any illegal activity. According to officers, the men gave conflicting statements during the early stage of questioning. After further interrogation, they allegedly admitted that they worked as online administrators responsible for responding to customer queries and handling internal support tasks. However, the group refused to elaborate on the nature of the platforms or the services provided.
Investigators believe the group may be part of a larger network that operates foreign gambling websites while using Thailand as a low-profile administrative base. Thai law prohibits operating gambling businesses within the country without a proper license, and offshore operators frequently attempt to avoid local legal scrutiny by locating administrative and support staff in rented residential spaces.
Police sources explained that these types of operations commonly handle user registration, payment processing, customer verification, and technical support for players using illegal gambling services. The offshore websites they support typically operate outside Thai oversight, making enforcement complex and requiring cooperation between immigration, cybercrime, and financial authorities.
The raid reflects the increasing attention Thai authorities are giving to online gambling activities linked to overseas criminal or grey-market operators. In recent months, cybercrime units have intensified efforts to identify foreign groups coordinating digital gambling businesses within Thailand’s borders. Investigators say that such setups often involve multiple administrative cells spread across condominiums in major urban areas, including Pattaya, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket.
The five suspects remain in custody while officers analyze the seized devices. Cyber forensic teams are reviewing mobile communication histories, laptop data, financial documents, and transaction trails to determine the full scale of the operation. Authorities say that additional charges may follow once digital evidence is validated and cross-checked with financial intelligence services.
Police have stated that the case could expand if links to larger offshore platforms or international financial channels are confirmed. Immigration officials are also reviewing the suspects’ residency and work status. If found to be working illegally without permits, the group may also face immigration violations in addition to potential gambling and cybercrime charges. Authorities expect more information to emerge over the coming days as investigators continue to review the seized materials.
